You know what I mean by the WOW! drive. . .It's when, out of nowhere you hit a drive that booms laser straight through the heart of the fairway 30, 40 or even 50 yards farther than you've been hitting all day. It's that drive that has your golfing buddies saying "WOW!, Jim, where did that come from? It's the one golf shot you remember when the round is over. The drive you brag about during coffee break Monday morning. The one that inspires you to reserve that 7 AM tee time next Saturday.
But alas, for most of us the WOW! drive - this thing of beauty - is rare and elusive. For a fleeting moment you get to bask in it's glory. Then you step into the next tee box and let fly with a gargantuan rip, confidently expecting to watch the ball sail out of sight. That's when, unfortunately, reality sets in, as the ball dribbles a few yards past the red tees. Your buddies giggle, your chest deflates, and you hang your head as you trudge disheartened back to the golf cart wondering . . .
Why can't I hit the WOW! drive every time?
Am I allowed only one per round?
The pros hit them almost every time. They have to. They don't last on the tour if they can't. Have you ever watched Freddie Couples swing? Here is a guy whose swing is as slow as molasses in January, but he regularly hits it out there 290 to 300 yards because his tempo and release generates maximum club head speed. Ernie Els is the same way. You think he is never going to get through his swing, then all of a sudden - CRRRACK! - and the ball goes screaming down the fairway.
Guess what.YOU have the ability to hit it that way too, because occasionally you do.
What you need is the formula for achieving the WOW! drive a lot more often.
Once I started studying and dissecting long driving tips, secrets, and advice on the internet, I discovered that this information was easily divided into two categories - PreSwing Advice and Swing Advice.
Ironically, there is a lot more pre-swing advise than actual swing advise. It would appear that there is an abundance of small techniques that can be applied to add yards to your tees shots before you ever swing the club.
As a testimonial to that I offer my own experience. My first trip to the golf course after researching this subject I immediately started sailing the ball 20 to 30 yards farther just by using the concepts and tips explained in: TEE HEIGHT, BALL POSITION, STANCE and GRIP PRESSURE. Nothing else, just those four things and I am hitting longer.
ANYBODY can do those four things the very next time they hit a tee shot. They are as easy as it is ever going to get - no work involved. Enjoy these tips, and I'll see you at the club's long drive championship.

One last point on hitting the WOW! drive. If you are serious about generating more length off the tee, I would encourage you to aquire a swing speed trainer. There are several types out there but they all help you to hone in on your primary goal - increased club head speed. This in turn, enables you to fulfill your ultimate goal - more distance. They achieve this by strengthening the swing muscles, improving overall flexibility, maximizing your range of motion, improving balance, and most of all they provide you with a means to measure your progress.
Have fun - Hit'em long!
